It's getting cold!

Luna probably doesn't remember what 'Winter' is cos she hasn't been around as long as me, but I remember that it means COLD! Last year when it got cold Mum and Dad bought me a jacket to wear outside. They don't have one for Luna yet so she got to snuggle on the couch with Mum's special blue blanket. How lucky is she!!?

Fun at the Park (by Luna)

Oooh another post by me!! Kaya is being nice to me this week!

This afternoon we went for a walk down the road to our local park. There's lots of open space where we can run run RUN as much as we like! Usually Mum walks along one side and Dad walks along the other, and me and Kaya have races between them! She usually wins...

Img_6013

But I am getting faster all the time!

Img_6026

Sometimes we can't decide which way to go...

Img_6018

When we're running we just let it all hang out - tongues, lips, ears - Mum gets some pretty funny photos! Hehe Kaya looks so silly here...

Img_6021

Ok, ok, I'll admit I look a bit weird too!

Img_6029

There's HEAPS of good smells in the park, especially after it's been raining. We stop and check them out for a break from the running...

Img_6043

Img_6048

YIKES! Here comes Kaya! Looks like we're running again!

Img_6056

Oh no, she's beating me!

Img_6074

Back the other way - now I'm beating her!

Img_6079

When we're not running or sniffing, I have a little thing I like to do called 'doggy dancin'...

Img_6086

I basically just throw my legs around in every direction, prance around and jump sideways a lot, it might not look very co-ordinated to you but I know the latest doggy dance steps. Other dogs recognise my moves! Even if the humans think I'm acting like fool.

Img_6002

I tried to teach Dad but I don't think he gets it...

Img_6088

Oh well. Back to racing Kaya again - look, we're neck and neck!

Img_6133

Did someone say something about sneaky tactics? It wasn't me, Kaya started it!

Img_6141

Once we'd had enough running it was time to go home. Mum sneaked off and hid behind the toilet block! But we knew she was there and spotted her straight away!

Img_6152

Running at the park with Kaya is so fun. One day I am going to get big enough and fast enough to beat her! Just you wait Kaya...

Late to the Show (by Luna)

Mum and I set off this morning on a reaaallly long drive to a show. The map on the computer told her it would take under 2 hours, but the road was really windy and we had some disagreements on the way.

What's wrong with trying to sit in Mum's lap anyway? The back is noisy, a bit too warm and a little bit scary, even though my comfy bed was there - I'd much rather be in the front with Mum. Apparently Mum can't use the levers and wheel properly though when I'm sitting on her lap and she has trouble seeing out with my head in the way. Geesh Mum, deal with it!

If only she'd let me sit in the front instead of stopping all the time and putting me back in the back (against my express wishes), we would have gotten there in time.

We finally arrived at the show place and we jumped out of the car and raced over to the show ring. There was another Great Dane in the ring - she was the only other one entered! We rushed over to the man in charge but he said "No! Too late! You've already been declared absent!". Mum told him that we'd just driven 2 and a half hours to get there but he didn't change his mind. I offered to bite him but Mum said I better not.

There was a horsey show on at the same showground so we went and watched them for a while, then we started back on the long drive home.

On the way back, we stopped at a nice creek with a bridge over it and Mum got the camera out. She let me have a snuffle around in the long grass first...

Img_5645

But then she told me it was time to work! Apparently since I'd gotten out of it at the show didn't mean I got out of it completely. Bugger. So I did my best show stack impression...

Img_5684

Pretty good, don't you think? Nope... not according to Mum. My tongue was hanging out, not good enough, try again, she said. Pft so what if my tongue was hanging out. It was hot! Dogs do that ya know Mum.

Img_5687

Mum informed me that I look especially goofy when my tongue is out. Apparently it's a BIG tongue. And it never seems to hang out the front, just out the side...

Img_5689

Admittedly sometimes I forget about it and close my mouth when it's still hanging out... of course Mum had the camera in my face at the time - doh!

Img_5690

Oh FINE then how's this Mum, look I even made my ears sit properly too. Gotta be bonus points for that, they aren't easy to control!

Img_5698

Mum, Mum! Are you looking? Look at my perfect stack!! How good am I!

Img_5710

How's my profile?

Img_5723

Mum said I was looking quite good and doing well, so she stripped me of my collar and made me do some nude posing! How do I look, boys? Only problem with this is I was doing what Mum calls 'munchy-lip' (sometimes when I close my mouth my lips get caught inside - oops).

Img_5735

We kind of gave up on the show practice shots after that. But did the posing demands end? No! This time she wanted one of my face. This is what I thought of the idea...

Img_5736 Img_5737

The next instructions were to smile and make my ears sit properly. I attempted...

Img_5743 Img_5745

My ears didn't want to co-operate though! I tried again...

Img_5749

Yay! Mum said that was much better. Phew. This modelling business is HARD! We had one last go at a nice-eared, non-munchy face, tongue not-out shot...

Img_5753

... and I nailed it!!! Yee haa!

I learned today that this modelling business is harder than I thought! I always thought Kaya had the easy job as Mum's professional dog model, but it's a lot of work and Mum is a very demanding boss. I think next time we are heading to show I might sit in the back and be good so we get there on time. I would much rather do that than be the subject of one of Mum's tedious modelling sessions!!

Tricks Training

Dad filmed us and then Mum made a video of us doing some tricks training! We only did a few of our tricks - shake hands, back/come and catch, but we know heaps more than that too. We are going to make another one soon (now that the grass is mowed in the front yard).

Enjoy!

An Adventure with Mum

Very early this morning Dad and Luna drove off in the van, Mum said that they would be gone all day and we should do something special, just me and her! Just like old times! I was all up for that.

We decided to go for a drive in the mountains to try and find somewhere interesting. Mum put my red bed in the back of the Jeep...

Img_5513

It fits in perfectly! There is just the right amount of room in the Jeep for just me, but when Luna gets it too it gets a bit crowded and we sit on each other and get annoyed. So I was glad it was just me this time!

Img_5515

We drove to the mountains and went around lots of windy roads and up and down steep hills. Mum said she'd like us to live out that way someday. This is one of the roads we went on...

Img_5519

I was a good girl in the back. I got up whenever we stopped but mostly I just lay down and looked out the window.

Img_5524

We finally found what looked like a good place to stop for a look. It was a nice green paddock next to some horses and cows. They were pretty interesting but I found something even better!

Img_5527

It was a creek! A cute little babbling creek. It was so pretty!

Img_5532

It was SUCH a good place to explore. So many cool new things to smell!

Img_5544

I saw some even cooler looking stuff on the other side of the creek!

Img_5553

So I decided to cross...

Img_5557

Ooh! It was a bit cold! Not nearly as warm as the water at the beach. Mum says that's because it comes down from the mountains.

It was really rocky under the water so I had to concentrate hard to keep my balance...

Img_5558

Yay! Made it to the other side...

Img_5560

I walked up the other side a bit until I found a little waterfall...

Img_5573

I was going to try and cross back here but the water was going pretty fast and I didn't want to fall over! That would just be embarrassing!

Img_5575

I went back down further and crossed back.

Img_5577

But there was a deep bit!

Img_5600

It's cool, I know how to swim! I went in anyway and had a drink while I was there. Mmmm the water was so fresh and cool! Much better than the garden tap water at home even!

Img_5603

Then it was time for us to go - lucky Mum brought a towel cos I got pretty wet! I had a fun time with Mum, we should do this stuff more often! I think she agrees. Now, how to get rid of Dad and Luna for a day again.....?

Photoshoot at the Beach

Today we went to the beach, as usual for a Saturday morning, but this time we met Mum's friend Catherine there for a photoshoot! Mum needs some photos of her and us doggies cos she is going to be in the newspaper again soon for her doggy photography stuff.

We did a bit of practice posting to start off with, just for Mum's camera...

Img_5489

When we met up with Catherine, first of all Mum wanted a photo of just me and her - yay! I think that means Mum loves me more. I did hear her and Catherine discussing something about 'testing the light' but I think that was unrelated.

Img_5284

Next we both did some posing with Mum...

Img_5301 Img_5319

Then it was time for all of us to pose together (that means Dad too) but there were so many other things to smell and see, we didn't want to co-operate!

Img_5411

We eventually decided we better just get it over with, the sooner we got a good shot, the sooner we could go off and play!

Img_5431

All done! Time to play!

Kitchen Comparisons

Luna is getting taller every day, slowing down a bit now that she's nearly 8 months old, but still catching me up! Mum did a sneaky comparison shot today while we were eyeing off some treats that Dad had (the second pic is of us going for a catch!).

Meet my sisters! (by Luna)

On the weekend, Mum went away. She was gone the whole two days! We went to the beach with Dad so we didn't miss her too much. When she got back, she showed us lots and lots of photos that she took at a Great Dane show that she went to in a far off place called Sydney!

Since I was actually originally from Sydney, there were two of my sisters there being shown!!

This is Libby. She lives with a Great Dane breeder called Manningdanes.

Img_3442

This is her being shown by her Dad.

Img_3965

This is my other sister Lacey. She is owned and shown by a little boy! Isn't she pretty?

Img_3958

Img_3996

So do you reckon my sisters look much like me? I would love to meet them one day!

Oh! And I had to get Mum to put in a photo of Libby's super hot live-in boyfriend Phantom. He's a few weeks old than us and he's huge! Very handsome, I hope I have a boyfriend like him one day!
