Copydog

Now, I'm not sure whether to be flattered or annoyed by this recent turn of events, but I have noticed lately that Luna copies what I do. A lot. If I lie a certain way, she copies. If I go outside, she goes outside. If I get up and give Mum or Dad huggles, she butts in.

It was quite apparent out in the yard today when Mum was taking photos. Have a look for yourself!

I pulled a funny face, so she did too...

Img_9133_3 Img_9136_2

I did the furrowed brow look, and of course Luna copied me...

Img_9141 Img_9155

I checked out the birdies...

Img_9318

Luna had to have a look too...

Img_9332

Luna might think she's pretty special copying me like this, but she doesn't have everything down pat just yet! In fact, I reckon I even beat her at her own game with a good free stack, look at my top effort below...

Img_9256

... compared to Luna's crappy attempt, she even had Mum there trying to help her! Plus she was munching on her lips again which never looks attractive, coupled with the fact that her bum is higher than her shoulders hehe. Mum reassures her that it's a growing phase but I freak her out saying she will always be like that - muhahaha!

Img_9245

At least there are some things that Luna can't even compete with me on (yet)! Like this! My latest trick. I am such a tall girl now!

Img_9302

Mum and Dad think it's funny when Luna tries to copy me. I guess I think it's kind of groovy - a bit flattering! It means she thinks I am cool. It's good when your little sister thinks you are cool!

Oh and one more pic - Dad came home from work when we were in the front yard modelling for Mum. So we obligingly posed for a photo with him!

My thoughts on the matter

Mum wanted to share this photo of Luna. Presumably to show of her photography 'skillz' and also demonstrate how pretty little miss Luna goody-two-shoes is...

Img_8033_2

Well you know what? I don't even care... this is what I think of all the showing off that's been going on around here lately... ha!

Waiting for something exciting to happen

I seem to spend a lot of my time lying around, waiting for something exciting to happen. Why does Mum go for hours without paying much attention to me? I mean, her sole purpose in life is being my Mum, right? Why does she need to sit there starting at that stupid screen on her desk ALL the time. Then sometimes she's not even at home at all! Dad is never at home for most days either.

We do stuff at the ends of the day, and on those two days where Mum and Dad are both at home. We go for walks and to the beach and dog parks and stuff, which is kind of nice. I still think Mum should spend more time with us though. I like to lie there and stare at her to make her feel guilty that she's not spending every minute with us, entertaining us and attending to our needs, like she should be.

Arty at the Broadwater

Sometimes I don't understand humans very well. Especially Mum, when she gets in an 'arty' mood. See, I like photos where everything is clear, there's a nice doggy head right in the middle of the picture with no crazy colours or even worse, no colours at all! Just black, white and grey!

Mum tells me that there is more to taking pictures than everything being nice and clear and pretty. She says that you can use stuff like outlines and movement and colours to make a picture cool. Apparently, a good picture can also mean that the doggy in question is not even totally in the shot, and that just a bum, or paws, or noses and such is ok too. She says it creates 'mood' and 'tells a story'. Hrmmm..

Well I am still not sure if I agree because I like people to see how beautiful I am and sometimes in these 'arty' shots Mum takes, it's a bit hard to make out! But I am allowing her to post these photos so you can decide for yourself. These are from a visit to the calm water (a placed called the Broadwater) and are of me and Luna and Dad playing in the water and swimming, digging, running around and generally having a good time!

Luna being a show-off

I hope you've all enjoyed the posts about LUNA lately, what a little blog hog she is!! Oh well gotta let her have her time in the limelight before it naturally reverts to me again.

Anyway just one more show related post, here's Luna out in the front yard after coming home from her shows on the weekend, with her ribbons. The ribbons are for winning Best Baby Puppy of Breed.

(Don't tell her I told you, but the only reason she won them is cos there were no other baby puppy Great Danes entered! hahahah I think that's so funny.)

At the Dog Show (by Luna)

I'm back! I think we better start calling this blog 'The Adventures of LUNA and Kaya'! hehe

Well Mum and I drove a really long way to some dog shows this weekend. She didn't manage to get anyone to take photos while we were in the ring, but here are some of us hanging around waiting. There was a lot of waiting and it was very hot, so I wasn't too keen on running around when we finally did make it to the ring! Oh well. Lots of other doggies were the same.

Anyway here's some pics of me and Grandma and Mum's friend Tara (Maple's Mum)...

Practicing the Stack (by Luna)

Yay! I get to do another post by myself! Mum says it's cos I am getting older and more responsible. I reckon it's just cos Kaya is getting lazy in her old age... ouch! Kaya! Fine then she's not old. She's being generous apparently.

ANYWAYS, not sure if you guys knew this, but I am a show doggy! Mum's never done it before me but she wanted to give it a go so we are both learning as we go. We can't just turn up at shows and do it though, we need to practice! One of the things we practice is the 'stand' or 'stack'.

I have to stand like this so that the judge people at the show can see my conf... confer... conformation!! Which basically means what I look like and how I am put together.

After we stand and the judge examines me, we get to trot around the ring so he can see how good I look when I am on the move! I like this part the best I think.

We do lots of practice at home to try and get me in just the right position. I like these sessions cos it means I get lots of CHEESE!!! Which is my favourite ever treat, yum!

We have a show coming up this weekend so here are some pics of me and Mum doing some practicing...

I stare at the cheese but make sure I don't grab it before Mum says I can have it...

Img_7087

Yay! I was good, so I got to have some cheese...

Img_7088

More staring at the cheese! Mum moves it all around and I have to follow it with my eyes, just to make sure I am concentrating!

Meeting Maple (by Luna)

Well FINALLY I get to have my own post again - and on the flash new blog! I think Kaya was being a bit of a hog, don't you? Blog hog! Anyways, here is the story of when me and Kaya met Maple!

Maple is a Cocker Spaniel and belongs to Mum and Dad's friends. They came to stay with us for the night and we got to play lots! Maple is only 4 months old (I'm 5 months) but she acts like a big dog - she wasn't scared by us at all!

Img_6997

She was HEAPS of fun so I let her climb all over me. She had very sharp little teeth though! This is her standing on my head. I really didn't mind, cos she is such a cool puppy...

Img_7003

There's only a month between us! You wouldn't know it! I am so much bigger. Kaya was doing the annoying worried older sister act. Pfft. Like anything could go wrong. Worry wart!

Img_7012

Having a little rest from the fun...

Img_7015

I can fit almost her whole head in my mouth if I try! Kaya definitely can. That's a fun game! The humans looked a little worried but they just need to chill out. Us doggies know what we are doing!

Img_7016

I tried hiding from Maple but I'm just too tall, and she's just too smart! Kaya told me later that when you hide, you have to hide all of your body, not just your head, cos they can still see the rest of you even if you can't see them. Hmmm, good advice. I will take that on board.

Img_7022

Kaya even let Maple climb all over her too! Maple sure likes biting. I am told she will grow out of it though so that's ok.

Img_7010

Wow, Maple is really little. I wonder if I was ever that little? I wonder how big she will grow? Such a funny little thing!

Img_7024

Mum also took some video of us playing with Maple, so you can see how good we were with her! I hope we get to play with her again soon.

OH and you can also see more photos of us and Maple from when we went to the beach the next day! Just check out Maple's Mum's blog post Life is Good and The Spit.

What Happened to Our Beautiful Beach - Part II

Continuing on from the last post, this is the story of the rest of what happened on the day our beach looked terrible! The last post was mostly from the ocean side of our beach (the side that has waves) but there is also a calm side of the beach which is kind of where a river runs out of the land - apparently it's called an estuary.

Anyway, this is what the calm side usually looks like (make sure you click for a larger version!). This was taken a few months ago...

Currumbinpanoramalrg

And this is what it looked like today! See how muddy it is? This is from all the dirt washing down the river and out to sea. Not very nice!

Img_6895

Anyway since the sun was out and it was pretty hot, we decided we wanted to go for a swim anyway. It was nice and cool! Zephyr's Dad threw in a big stick for us all to go and fetch...

Img_6897

We let Zephyr get it cos it was pretty big!

Img_6899

Our people decided that stick was too big for us, so they threw in this one for us instead! Ok the other was was definitely too wide.. but this one was waaay too long. Me and Luna had a go at it anyway. You'd think that with all the sticks lying around they'd be able to pick one for us the right size? I think they enjoyed watching us struggle! Mean!

Img_6907

FINALLY Zephyr's Mum threw in a proper stick for us to fetch. Just the right size!

Img_6916

After we fetched it out, Zephyr ran up and down the little beach with it with me and Luna in hot pursuit! The people had to get out of the way pretty quickly!

Img_6923

Img_6925

I heard someone coming, so I climbed back up the bank to have a look...

Img_6936

Ooooh! A new friend! A new GREAT DANE friend!!

Img_6938

We found out her name is Harley, and she's about the same age as me! She's a BIG Dane and very fun to play with...

Img_6969

Img_6971

Not to be left out, Luna and Zephyr did some chasing in the dunes too...

Img_6978

Then I stalked Luna (my favourite thing to do!)...

Img_6964

I was so happy to see blue sky again and feel the sunshine. It's been rainy for far too long! I don't much like what happened to our beautiful beach but it's still a super fun place to be, even when the water is brown and there is stuff lying around everywhere!

Img_6984

The best thing of all isn't the beach though, it's about having good friends to run, play, chase and have fun with - like my best buddy Zephyr!

Our beach! Our beautiful beach!

Img_6788_2

We arrived at our beach this morning after LOTS and lots of rain (so we were pretty hyper) only to find it like this!! There was STUFF all over the beach and the water was BROWN! It was so weird, Mum went back to the car to get her camera...

Img_6795

It was still raining up the other end of the beach, but blue sky was just starting to show at our end.

Img_6805

Dad and us had walked down the beach a bit, but when we saw Mum after getting her camera, we had to run over and say hello to her again!! Hehe Luna looks funny when she runs - look at those ears!

Img_6801

Oh waitup, I do too. Whoah I even have the tongue swingin in this one.

Img_6811

We spotted Zephyr! After him!

Img_6812

Got him! Me and Luna teamed up on him, girl power style!

Img_6819

It was so weird, the surf was brown from all the mud that washed down the river. And it smelled funny. Actually it smelt quite good, but I've been told I have a different opinion of what smells good to humans so it probably wouldn't smell good to you!

Img_6823

Logs on the beach are fun! Me and Dad did some jumping...

Img_6825

Lots of weird, random stuff had washed up on the beach, probably from people's backyards who live on the river!

Img_6833

Check this out! It was an entire park bench!!

Img_6844

Dad put it upright and he and Luna tested it out. Then Luna got distracted and tried to eat Dad's sunnies. Youngsters these days... no concentration on the task at hand!

Img_6848

We decided that the park bench, despite having being washed down a river, out to sea, then up on a beach at high tide, was fine. So we all sat on it. Or tried to. Only Dad and Zephyr's Dad fitted though, but us dogs tried anyway!

Img_6855

Luna and I found something good in a pile of sticks and branches. It smelled soooo good. But Mum and Dad made us come away from it! I think it was something that had died in the flood.

Img_6864

Amidst all the excitement, Zephyr had run off and was no where to be found! I think he must have found something that he didn't want to share.

Img_6889

Can't hide from me for long! I found him pretty easy. Isn't he a handsome devil?
We have more photos from this day but Mum is going to do another post with them soon. We hope you like our new blog! Make sure you remember where it is, and come back soon!

Love Kaya and Luna xxxooo
