Mum and I set off this morning on a reaaallly long drive to a show. The map on the computer told her it would take under 2 hours, but the road was really windy and we had some disagreements on the way.
What's wrong with trying to sit in Mum's lap anyway? The back is noisy, a bit too warm and a little bit scary, even though my comfy bed was there - I'd much rather be in the front with Mum. Apparently Mum can't use the levers and wheel properly though when I'm sitting on her lap and she has trouble seeing out with my head in the way. Geesh Mum, deal with it!
If only she'd let me sit in the front instead of stopping all the time and putting me back in the back (against my express wishes), we would have gotten there in time.
We finally arrived at the show place and we jumped out of the car and raced over to the show ring. There was another Great Dane in the ring - she was the only other one entered! We rushed over to the man in charge but he said "No! Too late! You've already been declared absent!". Mum told him that we'd just driven 2 and a half hours to get there but he didn't change his mind. I offered to bite him but Mum said I better not.
There was a horsey show on at the same showground so we went and watched them for a while, then we started back on the long drive home.
On the way back, we stopped at a nice creek with a bridge over it and Mum got the camera out. She let me have a snuffle around in the long grass first...

But then she told me it was time to work! Apparently since I'd gotten out of it at the show didn't mean I got out of it completely. Bugger. So I did my best show stack impression...
Pretty good, don't you think? Nope... not according to Mum. My tongue was hanging out, not good enough, try again, she said. Pft so what if my tongue was hanging out. It was hot! Dogs do that ya know Mum.

Mum informed me that I look especially goofy when my tongue is out. Apparently it's a BIG tongue. And it never seems to hang out the front, just out the side...

Admittedly sometimes I forget about it and close my mouth when it's still hanging out... of course Mum had the camera in my face at the time - doh!

Oh FINE then how's this Mum, look I even made my ears sit properly too. Gotta be bonus points for that, they aren't easy to control!

Mum, Mum! Are you looking? Look at my perfect stack!! How good am I!

How's my profile?

Mum said I was looking quite good and doing well, so she stripped me of my collar and made me do some nude posing! How do I look, boys? Only problem with this is I was doing what Mum calls 'munchy-lip' (sometimes when I close my mouth my lips get caught inside - oops).
We kind of gave up on the show practice shots after that. But did the posing demands end? No! This time she wanted one of my face. This is what I thought of the idea...

The next instructions were to smile and make my ears sit properly. I attempted...

My ears didn't want to co-operate though! I tried again...
Yay! Mum said that was much better. Phew. This modelling business is HARD! We had one last go at a nice-eared, non-munchy face, tongue not-out shot...
... and I nailed it!!! Yee haa!
I learned today that this modelling business is harder than I thought! I always thought Kaya had the easy job as Mum's professional dog model, but it's a lot of work and Mum is a very demanding boss. I think next time we are heading to show I might sit in the back and be good so we get there on time. I would much rather do that than be the subject of one of Mum's tedious modelling sessions!!
